Pinatasaur Interview

Pinatasaur: What moved you to write and create this album?

C-Head: A feeling of desperation. People need to be awoken, sometimes whether they want to or not. You do not grow by staying in your comfort zone. It is my attempt at waking up the zombie hordes and having some fun along the way.

Pinatasaur:What do you hope others will get out of your album and messages?

C-Head: A perspective that they wouldn not normally have seen. I do not want people to agree with me necessarily, I just want them to think for themselves. The greatest thing is when someone that is never heard me before comes up to me at a show and starts talking about lyrics/politics. I would hope that the people who consider themselves fans would keep me on my toes. It is a learning experience.

Pinatasaur:If your music were to assist or even inspire a movement what would you want to see come from it?

C-Head: Realistically, or the ideal revolution? In the real world, I would hope that once we get some cash behind us we can put it into companies like No Sweat (anti-sweatshop clothes manufacturer). I enjoy the notion of using the machine (in an overall sense) against itself.

Pinatasaur:Is there any one message or idea in your lyrics that you feel most strongly about?

C-Head: cuz were all born to die is probably what has stuck with me the most. I can rant about politics and corporate colonialism all I want, but what is really important is getting people out of their shells. You only have one opportunity (as far as we know), so you might as well make the best of it. I do not mean that in the nihilistic live everyday like it is your last kind of thing. I am talking about getting people away from their habits to actually go after their hopes & dreams.

Pinatasaur:You have a few songs that come out and attack hip-hop and mainstream hip-hop, is there anyone that holds a grudge against you for this?

C-Head: I am sure there are those who think I’m being overly critical of gangsta rap, but most people that I encounter hate rap, and it is because of people like 50 Cent and Lil John. Actually I take that back, s because of the record labels that push those artists (if you can call them that).

Pinatasaur:You call for people to educate themselves, how would you want to see them do so?

C-Head: Read a book. Turn off the TV. Talk to somebody. Go to school. There is a million ways, but you have to seek knowledge, it will not seek you.

Pinatasaur:What is your own educational background?

C-Head: Dropped out and dropped back into high school. I am currently attending college. There are better places to learn than schools; too much indoctrination and bias in what is taught.

Pinatasaur:You not only approve of but encourage others to share, spread and copy your music, why?

C-Head: The primary reason is that music is meant to be heard, not exploited. I would rather have a 100 people who are down for the cause than a million who just like one song because of a catchy hook. A more secondary reason is that I do not have a label pushing me, nor is my song on the radio/MTV/BET. How else will people hear it unless people share it with each other.
My stance is also somewhat of a reaction to all the crybaby millionaires who bitch about people copying their music. Aww boo hoo you can not buy another mansion. I really have no sympathy for major labels or their artists. Maybe if they start making something original sounding then I will give them some credence until then though…

Pinatasaur:Does it bother you that you are not allowed to sell your album in stores and for the reason that a guest speaker copied someone else's words as their own?

C-Head: Well actually, the real reason I cant sell it in stores is because I specifically got it printed without a barcode on it (making it unable to be sold in many stores). As far as the plagiarism stuff, there is really nothing I can do about it now. It does mean that I will probably put it up for free on the internet or something.

Pinatasaur:Are there any last thoughts, ideas or words you would like to share with us (the readers of this article to be)?

C-Head: Keep an open mind, seek truth, and educate yourself.
